COUGAR FEEDER BOYS BASKETBALL

Welcome to the Conant Cougar Feeder Boys Basketball website.  Cougar Feeder Basketball is the official boys youth travel basketball program for Conant High School.  We are proudly supported by the Conant High School Basketball leadership.  Cougar Feeder Basketball is a non-profit LLC and we participate in the DYTBL (DuPage Youth Travel Boys Basketball League), a competitive feeder affiliated basketball league. This program emphasize a higher level of competitiveness. Because this is a competitive basketball program, playing time will be fair but not necessarily equal between players. Player progress during the season is strongly affected by player attendance and development at practices; therefore, all practices and games have mandatory attendance. This program is designed to help progress athletes as players and individuals. The goal of this program is development athlete’s skills, fundamentals as well as promote safety, fun, sportsmanship and honest competition.

The program offers teams at 3rd grade thru 8th grade and is designed to provide players with an advanced and challenging environment to help prepare them to be successful student-athletes.  Teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, hard work, and positivity are the core values of the program.

2023-2024 SEASON

8th Grade Blue
The 8th Grade Blue completed its 2nd Season in the DYTBL Gold Division, and final season in the Conant Feeder Basketball Program with several great moments. Final record: 11-20 (5-13 DYTBL Gold, 6-7 Gold Level Tournaments). They took 3rd in the Carol Stream Shootout in November 2023, were Runner Ups in Palatine “A” Tournament in January 2024, and finished in the Gold Playoffs Consolation Bracket Semifinals. They had several exciting wins over the season, beating local rivals Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows, and Lake Park. We are extremely proud of the growth that the players have shown since 4th grade. This class was the first in the program to win a League Championship (2020), a 3rd place finish in 2022, and the first to complete 5 full years in the program, competing at the Gold level for the last 2 full seasons. We could not be more excited to see these boys compete for the Cougars as freshman next fall! Thank you to Coach Pat McCormack and Assistant Coach Eric Johnson for your time and effort these past 5 years mentoring our future Cougars!

8th Grade White
These young men have been part of our feeder program for 3-4 years and have truly grown year-after-year. A coachable group who were always looking to get better and were competitive throughout the whole season. The team finished with a 9-9 record in the DYTBL and 13-17 overall. They made it to the Palatine Feeder Tourney Championship Game in January. We look forward to seeing these young men playing freshmen basketball next year as the potential is bright with this group! Thank you to Head Coach Ryan Davis and Assistant Coach Steve Misheikis for your time and energy mentoring these fine young men. Go Cougars!

7th Grade Blue
Conant 7th Blue Feeder went 15-6 in the Silver division of the DYTBL. They also won the Palatine tournament and finished the year off with a Consolation Championship in the DYTBL playoffs. The boys emphasized team basketball all year long. They leaned on their defensive effort and willingness to share the basketball offensively. Their depth and athleticism led them to a successful season. They will keep this momentum into the offseason and finish strong in their 8th grade season. Thank you to Head Coach Tony Madden and his Assistant Coaches Lee and Jacob Jacquart for your time and energy mentoring our feeder boys! Go Cougars!

7th Grade White
The 7th Grade White team finished the regular season 10-8 in the Bronze Division. This was a few of the boys first year playing competitive basketball and the transformation from the start of the season to the end was astonishing. They averaged 38.5 points per game and came second in points allowed averaging just 25 points a game as they were a team that really took pride in their defense. The boys learned a lot on and off the court including accountability, discipline, and hustle. In the DYTBL playoffs they were the 9th seed who went on to beat #1 Seed Western Springs (17-1), a team they lost to twice during the regular season, to win the consolation bracket and take home some medals. Congratulations to the 7th Grade White team on their DYTBL consolation championship and thank you to Coach Ashely Montanez for your time and effort mentoring our feeder boys! Go Cougars!

6th Grade Blue
The 6th Grade Blue Team went 15-10 overall and 13-3 in the DYTBL league play taking 2nd place in the Silver North Division, finishing in 4th place out of 36 teams in the entire silver league. With multiple first year players on the team they were the third best defensive team in the league allowing only 25.9 points per game. The boys quickly gelled as a team, always leaving everything on the court and never giving up. The boys were challenged by playing in some competitive gold level tournaments over the season and they rose to the challenge every game. The future is bright for this group and looking forward to what these future Cougars will accomplish in the coming years. Thank you to Coach Steve Misheikis and Coach Pat Abraham for your time and effort in mentoring our boys! Go Cougars!!!

6th Grade White
Congratulations to our 6th Grade White Feeder Team and Coach Ryan Davis on winning the DYTBL Upper Bronze Consolation Championship! After a tough overtime loss in Round 1 yesterday, the team rallied together to beat the 1-seed in Game 1; eventually winning all three games for the DYTBL Consolation Championship today! The team had a fantastic DYTBL season going 15-5.  Thank you to Coach Ryan Davis for your time and effort mentoring our 6th graders!  Great job boys! Go Cougars!

5th Grade Blue
Congratulations to our 5th Grade Blue Feeder Team and Coach Mike Korzen and Joe Bush on winning the DYTBL Upper Silver Consolation Championship tonight! The team had a fantastic season finishing with a 25-4 overall record and 19-2 in the DYTBL.  Thank you to Coach Mike and Coach Joe for your time and effort mentoring our 5th graders.  Go Cougars!

5th Grade White
Congratulations to our 5th Grade White Feeder Team on a fantastic season! The 5th Grade White was a new team for 2023-2024 and finished second in the bronze division in the DYTBL with a 16-4 record. The boys gelled together quickly and competed at a high-level averaging 35 points per game while allowing only 22 points per conference game. In their first tournament together, they were runner-up at the Woodridge Holiday Shootout. In the DYTBL tournament, the team earned them the 5th seed (out of 33 teams) and was placed in the tier 1 bracket. After winning their first-round game, they lost in the semifinals to eventual champions Glenbard East and lost a tough 3rd place game by 5 points. This team is a great combination of coachable, hardworking kids with talent and potential that’ll be exciting to watch in the future! Thank you to Coach Bob Pryor and Coach Dave Scheck for your time and effort mentoring these boys! Go Cougars!

4th Grade
Our 4th grade feeder team concluded the year by winning the consolation championship in the DYTBL Upper Silver playoffs, as an underdog No. 9 seed! This team has won back-to-back playoff consolation championships in last two seasons. Fourth grade finished this season with a 23-7 overall record across the DYTBL regular season (13-5), tournament play (7-1) and DYTBL playoffs (3-1). They also won the Silver Division Championship in the Riverside-Brookfield Feeder Tournament. Attitude, effort and trust were consistent talking points all season, and the boys were proud to see their hard work pay off with championship medals. Thank you to Head Coach Pete Doherty and Assistant Coaches Clyde Miller and Steve Krismalian for your time and effort mentoring our feeder boys. Go Cougars!

3rd Grade
The 3rd Grade team was in their first year playing in a very competitive DYTBL Silver Division finishing 4-12.  Wins and losses do not paint the entire picture of the player development that has been accrued this season. From Day 1 this group of 10 Young Men have been coachable and fought in every game this season.  The “come back kids.” Multiple double digit deficits that were erased by this group. A memorable thriller down 13 in the 2nd half, as Conant fought and clawed to take the lead within the final minute and hold on for the win. Defeating eventual Upper Silver Champion Western Springs by 11 points on their Home Court, showed the true ability these boys had.  The IQ, ability and work ethic got stronger and more determined every game, every practice. This group has the core and heart to compete at a very high level for years to come. Thank you to Coach Jimmy Pedro and Coach Mike Clark for your time and energy mentoring our 3rd graders! Go Cougars!

After going 2-2 at Riverside Brookfield in November, against eventual undefeated DYTBL champion Hinsdale Central and runner-up Lemont, the Cougars beat Hoffman at Northwestern University in a really exciting, immersive experience for the boys prior to the Northwestern -UIC game. 7th Blue finished the regular season in 4th place of nine teams in our division and earned the 7-seed overall in the Upper Gold Playoff Bracket.  We are all very proud of this accomplishment, as it was our first year in the Gold Division. Looking forward to one last hurrah in 8th grade Gold next season! – Coach McCormack

7th Grade White
After playing in the bronze division last season, the boys moved up to the Silver division and were up to the challenge each game even with the adversity of losing their starting point guard due to injury for last quarter of season the boys continued to play with determination to the final game.  They finished with an overall record of 8-23 but their win-loss record doesn’t show the true growth in development on and off the court from beginning to end of season.  The team was in many close games.  Thank you to Coach Steve and Coach Pat on showing what it takes to fight thru adversity and continue to improve.  With off season dedication we know this team will have a great 8th grade season in 2023-24.  Go Cougars!
